The winners of the tenth edition of Ennesimo Film Festival

Ennesimo Film Festival comes to an end

Sept Fois awarded best film,
Coumans and Marillier best performances

The tenth edition of the Ennesimo Film Festival came to an end yesterday evening, with seven thousand people taking part in just one week. Over 150 short films were screened, more than 50 events were held and various local organisations were involved. Yesterday, at 5 p.m., the library hall was packed for the presentation by Italian Space Agency researcher Maria Virelli, mission manager of the COSMO Sky-Med satellite system, who kicked off an evening full of excitement. At 8.30 p.m., in front of the town hall of Fiorano Modenese, the heart of the
Ennesimo Film Festival, a video mapping was projected, recounting the ten years of the Ennesimo Film Festival. At the Astoria Theatre, at 9 p.m., it was time for the awards ceremony, which opened with the screening of Incipit: class 1B of the Francesca Bursi Comprehensive School in Fiorano Modenese – which attended the Ennesimo Academy courses – worked with Francesco Clerici during the first days of the Festival to create a short film. This was followed by the award ceremony for the various selections in competition, with the exception of Sinofonie, which will be awarded on 8 May in Bologna. The winners are as follows:

Youth Award: Freelance (the dragon slayer) by Luciano Mugnoz Sessarago, Magnus Moeller, Peter Smith.
Ennesimo Comix Award: Freelance (the dragon slayer) by Luciano Mugnoz Sessarago, Magnus Moeller, Peter Smith.
City of Fiorano Award – Family Affairs selection: Two for the roads by Lochlainn McKenna.
Fuorifuoco Award: Hit and repeat by Oliver Theurillat, Dandelions girl by Azadeh Masihzadeh.
Visioni Sarde Award: S’Ozzastru by Carolina Melis.

Official Selection:
Ennesima Best Performance Award: Thomas Coumans, star of Alarms by Nicolas Panay;
Garance Marillier, star of Favours by Agner Skonare Karlsson.
Ennesimo People’s Choice Award: The Erasers by Vin Frederick.
Critics’ Mention: Chicken Broth Soup by Deniz Buyukkirli, “from Turkey, the debut film by a young
director who has skilfully tackled a topical and sensitive subject, infusing it
with subtle irony”.
Artemisia Award: Paris 70 by Dani Feixas, “which deals with a difficult and highly topical issue rendered in a
language of images and words that is direct and intense in its empathy and emotion”.
Best Film: Sept Fois by Christine Wuederkehr because “with extreme delicacy and great professionalism, the
director brings to light a true story, sadly commonplace, vainly told and disturbingly
unheard”.

«It was a collaborative and highly successful edition, – emphasises Federica Ferro, director of Ennesimo Film Festival, – which required a year of preparation. We involved over seven thousand students in Ennesimo Academy, doubling last year’s numbers, and over seven thousand citizens in just seven days, achieving significant numbers that confirmed the growth of our organisation. Special thanks go to our partners and sponsors, as well as to all the staff, for their constant support in organising and staging the Ennesimo Film Festival».
